Seven Johnians recognised for outstanding achievements in Queen's Birthday Honours List 2019

Seven Johnians have been featured in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List 2019, including an Opera Director, a Scientific Advisor, and a Director of Music.

The Queen’s Birthday Honours List recognises the outstanding achievements of people across the United Kingdom.

The following Johnians received awards this year:

Professor Sir Ian Lamont Boyd (1979), Chief Scientific Adviser, Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, received a Knight Bachelor for services to Science and Economics on Food and the Environment.

Sir Stephen John Cleobury (1967), Director of Music, King's College, Cambridge, was awarded a Knight Bachelor for services to Choral Music.

Sir David Willoughby Pountney (1966; Honorary Fellow 2007), Opera Director, received a Knight Bachelor, for services to Opera.

David Middleton Gray (1970), Lately Chairman, Ofgem, was awarded a CBE for services to Regulation.

Barnaby John Lenon (1977), Chair, Independent Schools Council and Chair of Governors, London Academy of Excellence, was awarded a CBE for services to Education.

Adam Nicholas Jollans (1977), Chair, Hampshire Scout Expeditions, received an MBE for services to Scouting and Young People.

His Honour John David Woodburn Hayman (1937), a former Circuit Judge, received a BEM for services to the community in Binsted and Alton Hampshire.
