Four years down the line and Telethon still going strong

Now in its fourth year, the recent Telethon fundraising campaign at St John’s was a roaring success with £180,182 raised.

The friendly team of student callers shared real life experiences with Johnians of all ages from the UK, US, Canada and Australia. This resulted in numerous offers of support which will benefit many of the College’s activities and programmes including the outreach and access initiative. Over the last four years, the Telethon has raised an impressive £1.17 million (with matched funding in the first year) towards the overall St John’s College Campaign. A significant proportion of the funds from this year’s campaign will be directed towards student bursaries and the endowment. Other initiatives that will benefit from this year’s funds include The LMBC Participation and Excellence Campaign, the Field Sports Matched Fund and the Choral Foundation Campaign.

The St John’s College Campaign has now raised over £47 million and, with over 18% of Johnians now participating in the Campaign, we are well on our way to reaching our first major milestone of £50 million by the end of 2012. A heartfelt thank you to all those who gave up their time to talk.
