How to apply for a Choral Award

Becoming a Choral Scholar

The Alto, Tenor and Bass parts are usually taken by 15 undergraduates, studying at St John's, who are known as Choral Scholars. They study a wide range of subjects (all are available except Architecture and Veterinary Medicine) and come from a variety of schools. Students of Architecture and Veterinary Medicine are however able to sing with St John's Voices, the College's Mixed-Voice choir.

Andrew Nethsingha, the Director of Music is always keen to hear prospective candidates throughout the year, so it is highly recommended that you arrange an informal meeting with him.

The Application Process

September: Attend Vocal Assessment Days – 26-28 September. This involves a vocal assessment and is strongly encouraged for those wishing to sing at St John's or King's. Find out more information here or download an application form.

Please note the application deadline for the Vocal Assessment Days is 15 September 2016.
