Annual Genizah Lecture

The inaugural annual Genizah Lecture will be taking place on 11 March at St John's College.

The lecture, entitled "Why medieval Jewish liturgy is not dull" will be given by Stefan Reif, Fellow of St John's College and former Head of the Genizah Research Unit.

The event celebrates 40 years since the founding of the Genizah Research Unit at Cambridge University Library, which is responsible for the curation, digitisation and description of the Genizah Collection. The Collection is the world's largest and most important single collection of Jewish manuscripts, containing 193,000 manuscript fragments mainly in Hebrew, Judaeo-Arabic, Aramaic and Arabic.

The lecture will be taking place at 5pm, Tuesday 11 March in the Lightfoot Room in the Divinity School and will be followed by a drinks reception. Everyone is welcome to attend.
