Crime & Punishment in Early Modern Britain
From murderers to pickpockets, highwaymen to witches, petty theft to high treason – the crimes of Early Modern Britain were as diverse as the men and women who committed them. Using materials from our Special Collections, we explore the lives of notorious law-breakers of the 16th to 18th centuries, examine the justice system which determined their punishments, and discover their final, frightful fates.
This display is located in the Library Exhibition Area and will run from 20 June to 21 September.
The exhibition can be viewed Monday – Friday (excluding Bank Holidays) from 9am – 5pm.
Open to all College members and the general public.
