St John’s Old Library website features in '101 Vital University Library Websites' list

The website of St John’s Old Library has received international recognition for the outstanding service it provides to students, researchers, and the public.

The site is among those listed in a new compilation of the best university library websites from around the world, published by the Online PhD Program. St John’s Old Library website is commended for the access it gives student researchers to early printed books and manuscripts, while the Library exhibition area is also highlighted as a valuable and important resource for both academics and the general public.

The list, entitled “Reading & Research: 101 Vital University Library Websites”, features sites that not only provide students with online access to vast digital collections, but also ensure that many of their resources are accessible to the public. This often entails providing digitised versions of documents which would otherwise only be directly available to researchers, and constructing effective databases for resources such as scholarly journals.

Other important university library websites on the list include Harvard Library, Princeton University Library and Bodleian Libraries.

The list, which is not in order of rank, can be viewed on the Online PhD Program website.
