Students awarded prizes for excellence - August 2013 update

The following students are among those whose excellent work has been recognised by the University, or external organisations and academic institutions, between the beginning of June and early August 2013.

They are shining examples of the dedication, enthusiasm and passion demonstrated by students at St John’s.

Neeloy Banerjee, who graduated this summer, received The Armourers and Brasiers’ prize for coming top in his year in Part II of the Materials Science Tripos.

Francesco Belfiore was awarded the BP Nevill Mott Prize for his achievements in the Natural Sciences Tripos.

Francesca Bellei was awarded both the John Stewart of Rannoch Scholarship in Greek and Latin, and the Henry Arthur Thomas Book Prize for excellent performance in Part IB Classics.

Rosemary Freeman received the Turner Prize in Economics for her performance in her examinations.

Laura Keating received the Isaac Newton Studentship for 2013-14 for the furtherance of advanced study and research in astronomy and astronomical physics.

Hannah Kirk-Evans was awarded the Henry Arthur Thomas Travel Exhibition, due to her excellent performance in her examinations.

Fiona Stainer was the overall winner of the Vogue Talent Contest 2013, a competition for young writers.

Anna Stansbury received the Adam Smith Best Overall Performance Prize (shared) for her results in the summer’s examinations in the Economics Tripos.

Martin Szoke, after completing his first year of the Classical Tripos, was awarded the Henry Arthur Thomas Travel Exhibition.

Andrew Tam, who joined the College in 2011, was awarded a BP Prize for an outstanding performance in Part IB Chemistry B.

Tengyao Wang, who read for the Master of Studies in Pure Mathematics this year, received the Wishart Prize for achieving a Distinction in his examination.
