St John's Poster Competition 2024

We are delighted to launch our Poster Competition this year. The competition invites UK-based prospective applicants to conduct an independent research project which will be assessed by St John's academics. This is an excellent super-curricular opportunity for students looking to make competitive university applications this year. St John's Webinars

St John's Webinars

The series of 7 monthly webinars will run on Thursday evenings via Zoom. They aim to provide help and guidance to high-achieving students in Years 10-12 (England/Wales, and equivalents) who are looking to apply to academically competitive universities like Cambridge. The webinar series covers a range of topics relating to university applications – from Q&A sessions with undergraduate students, advice on A Level choices, to workshops on subject exploration. Maths Faculty Open Days 2024

Registration is now open for the Maths Faculty Open Days - Saturday 27th April and Saturday 4th May 2024. If you are a prospective Maths applicant and would like to visit St John's for a tour and talk with academics and students, please head to this Maths Faculty webpage to book a St John's College morning and Faculty afternoon ticket.

Year 12 Women in Maths Residential 2024

Year 12 Women in Maths Residential 2024


This free residential course runs from Sunday 11th August to Saturday 17th August 2024. During this week-long summer school, participants will attend Sixth Term Examination Paper (STEP) workshops and taster lectures delivered by Cambridge academics and guest speakers, exploring a range of exciting mathematical topics. There will be challenging mathematical problems for participants to work on throughout the week as well as guided group research projects and social activities led by current St John’s students. Participants’ meals and accommodation are provided free of charge by St John’s College. Applications for this residential programme are open to female and non-binary students in Year 12 (England/Wales) or equivalent who are prospective undergraduate applicants for Cambridge this year, and are on track to achieve A* in Maths and Further Maths A Levels (or equivalent grades/qualifications)Please click here for more information about the typical successful applicant profile for Mathematics at St John's College. Places on the course are available to UK, EU, and International students and we are keen to encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds.

  • St John's College Choir Year 12 Choral Masterclass Residential

Applications for St John's College Choir Year 12 Choral Masterclass Residential (Sunday 30th June to Tuesday 2nd July 2024) are now open. This programme is for students in Year 12 (England/Wales) or equivalent who are on track to meet their prospective Cambridge course's entry requirements and intend to sing alto, tenor, or bass in a top level College choir. The deadline to submit a student application (together with the supporting music/choral teacher reference) is Thursday 16th May. St John's July Open Days 2024

St John's July Open Days 2024

Our undergraduate Open Days will be on Thursday 4th and Friday 5th July 2024. Cambridge Open Days are aimed at prospective applicants from Year 12 (or equivalent) and mature applicants (aged 21 or over), together with their parents or supporters, to help them learn more about the University. 

During the Open Days you can find out about our courses, the College and departments, facilities, the application process, student life, and finance. You’ll also be able to ask our current staff and students questions about living and studying at the University of Cambridge. 

At St John’s, we will also be hosting talks with a Q&A session at 10:00 and 14:00 on each day with the Tutor for Undergraduate Admissions, as well as hosting tours of the College with current students.  

Both days will have a similar programme, with our events running between 09:30 and 16:30 (UK time). The format for the Open Day means you only need to attend one of the days.

Natural Sciences Residential 2024

St John’s Natural Sciences Residential 8-9 July 2024

St John's College is delighted to announce that applications are now open for the St John’s Natural Sciences Residential 2024.

This free residential course runs from Monday 8th - Tuesday 9th July 2024. During the programme, participants will attend Q&A sessions, workshops and taster lectures delivered by Cambridge academics, exploring a range of exciting topics from the Natural Sciences Tripos and learning about the application process. There will also be the chance to meet current St John’s students.

Participants’ meals and accommodation are provided free of charge by St John’s College. Please get in touch ( if travel expenses would be a prohibitive cost to your participation.

Applications for this residential programme are open to students about to start Year 13 (England/Wales) or equivalent who are considering applying to Cambridge this year and are on track to meet and exceed the entry requirements for our Natural Sciences - Biological and Physical courses. Places are limited and applications will be assessed on academic merit. The residential is primarily aimed at UK students; priority will be given to those from UK state schools in the North of England.
