    Dr Alan Smith, Emeritus Reader in Geology at the University of Cambridge and Fellow of St John’s College, has died at the age of 80.Dr Smith, who became a Fellow at St John’s in 1970 and was formerly College Lecturer in Geological Sciences, died on 13 August 2017.
