St John's reaches fundraising milestone

We are pleased to announce the completion of the St John’s College Campaign to raise £50million, nearly one year ahead of schedule.  We would like to thank all those Johnians who have contributed so generously both in terms of donations and time.  The impact of this generosity has been felt throughout the College; hundreds of bursaries have been funded, numerous scholarships created, research fellowships endowed, and facilities such as Corfield Court, the Divinity School and Merton Hall have been renovated.  A full report on the Campaign will be sent to all Johnians later this year.

The Campaign’s conclusion marks the end of the first phase of the College’s fundraising strategy.  With changes to funding, both of individual students and in the higher education sector generally, the huge costs involved in the upkeep of our historic site, and significant global competition, St John’s faces many challenges in the years ahead.  Simply put, the College will need more resources if it is to maintain and expand its international reputation as an institution of academic excellence, opportunity and culture.

We now move into a long-term development programme with the emphases on raising funds for the endowment, student support, outreach programmes, and teaching and research.

Once again, the College thanks all those who have followed the great College tradition of giving something back.  We hope many more will continue to do so over the coming years.
