Historiated initial and details from the borders of f.1r of MS A.4(III), Dinus de Mugello’s commentary on the Liber Sextus Decretalium (English, c. 1335-50). The initial depicts a lecturer addressing a group of seated students. The borders incorporate a man playing a viol, a grotesque with a bannered trumpet bearing the arms of Cailly, another wielding an axe, and a wild man supporting a shield with the arms of Mortimer.
