A theological commonplace, perhaps in part compiled by Roger Kenyon (1666-c. 1724), Fellow of St John's College, while a young man; the date 1680 appears on the flyleaf. The contents, which principally consist of undated sermons or commentaries on Biblical verses in a number of hands, include: John Arrowsmith (1602-59), successively Master of St John's College and Trinity College, Cambridge, 'Divine Aphorismes'.

'Letters to or from or in some way affecting George Shaw B.A. scholar of Saint John's College Cambridge, commencing February XIV anno salutis nostrae MDCCCXL and ending November VII anno salutis nostrae MDCCCXL.' George Shaw (d. 1845) was admitted to St John's in 1836 and graduated BA in 1840 (junior optime and second class in the Classical Tripos). He served as curate of Fen Drayton, Cambridgeshire, from 1843 and died at Torquay in Jan. 1845.

'A narrative of the early life of the reverend John Farrent (who was born 15 Dec. 1783) written by himself 11 May 1806, and continued in the form of a diary to 12 Oct. 1813, the time of his settlement as pastor of the church at Isleham.'
